Shopping Ban Outfit #9

Shopping Ban Status Update:
Starting to feel some symptoms of shopping withdrawal.  I'll lust after an item seen on a blog or online store. The best thing I'm doing to keep myself from shopping is avoiding stores I normally buy things at like Target.  When I'm in store that sells clothes I'll just skip over and not even look. If I don't see it I won't be tempted.  Unfortunately marketing and sales strategies are working against me, those eye catching displays may be my downfall.

Yesterday I wore shopping ban item #21, Red and Grey plaid skirt.  It was supposed to be around 69 degrees making my choice of a sweater and tights slightly acceptable, but instead it was 75 and I was a wee bit uncomfortable.  All summer I wished for warmer weather and now it won't get cold in autumn.

Shopping Ban Outfit #4

My friend Ashley, pictured above, straightened my hair with her professional hair straightener.  It looked really nice in person and photographed pretty well too.  The last time my hair was straightened it was at a kiosk in the mall you know the one where they attack you anytime you pass by.  They totally fried my hair and I had to do a hot oil treatment for a few weeks to get it back to normal.  So far my hair seems okay...a little less curly but not damaged.

Top: Old Navy-Blue with a large floral print-$10
Skirt: Burlington Coat Factory-Yellow flared bottom skirt-$8
Bracelet-Friendship bracelet made by Olivia-Free!
Shoes....I don't remember and you can't see them anyways.
Approximate Total Cost~$18
I didn't gamble at all but I did spot a slot machine with a picture of an Indian woman.

DIY Skirt

I'm quite proud of my DIY skirt .  Its not fancy but I love it.  The blue with white polka dot fabric I bought a while back for another project that I never got around to doing.  I started out following instructions for a DIY paperbag skirt, but I didn't follow them exactly when cutting the material so I ended up adding pleats in the front and back to make the shape less boxy.  I think it turned out pretty well for my first non-costume wearable sewing project.

I went to Burlington Coat Factory for the first time since high school.  There is one close to the grocery store I like to shop at so it may become my new favorite quickly.  Before we bought our house I loved Ross, and it was next door to a grocery store too!  I got this mustard yellow sweater at Burlington last week for $12.  They seem to have a lot of good deals and I had an amazing cashier who was too lazy/in too much of a hurry to look up prices for unmarked or items not scanning properly and rang up a skirt and shirt for me as $7.99!
